How to identify
Jumping spiders are identifiable by their compact, robust body shape and distinctive eye arrangement featuring two very large forward-facing anterior median eyes, flanked by smaller anterior lateral eyes, with two pairs of eyes on the carapace top and sides. Body size typically ranges from 1-25mm, though most common species are 4-18mm. They have relatively short, stout legs compared to other spider families. Habitat
Jumping spiders occupy nearly every terrestrial habitat including forests, grasslands, deserts, mountains, wetlands, and urban environments. They are found on vegetation, tree bark, leaf litter, rocks, building walls, and inside human structures.
